The Cirque Du Soleil show Delirium’s last performance was April 20, 2008 in London. At this time Cirque du Soleil and Live Nation will not pursue further touring options.

Congrats to all involved with the show for the last two years and best of luck moving forward!

OVERVIEW OF DELIRIUM

Producer Francis Collard arranged the music for Delirium, melding the works of composers Rene Dupere, Benoit Jutras and Violaine Corradi into something resembling a cohesive whole. Traditionally Ciruque has emphasized instrumental music to accompany its acts, but in Delirium lyrics are added to the mix, many in English, as well as various other languages including traditional African tongues. Indeed, African tribal beats provide an overarching thematic cohesion to the show, putting forth the tribal ceremonies and life within the elements (fire and water) celebrated by African dance.

African dance elements introduce the show, with Cirque’s patented specimens of the human body (almost unreal toned muscles) offering dance and acrobatic feats that we have seen in most Cirque shows in the past. Various forms of dance intersperse the program, performed by 18 dancers and 8 acrobats, and melding the disciplines into hybrid feats of athleticism that certainly push the boundaries of human physical ability. While the acrobatics and the dance are never as “wow” inducing as in other Cirque shows, again, the visual performance complements the music.
