You can type “c 2007 myname” for a copyright statement, but you know you want it to look cool. Here’s how to type the copyright symbol as text on a PC or Mac.
How to make a Copyright C Symbol on a PC Keyboard (©):
Hold down Ctrl and Alt at the same time and press C
Ctrl+Alt+C
OR THIS:
Hold down Alt and type 0169 on the number pad (right hand side of your keyboard)
Alt+0169
How to make a Copyright C Symbol on a Mac (©):
Hold down Option at the same time and press ‘g’to get the copyright symbol.
Option+g
You can use these on a text editor like Notepad or Word. Can also use this as text on an html editor like Dreamweaver.
If all this is so extremely tedious you can always type a copyright the simple way like this: (c) composername 2009

Computers are powerful.
We must be careful with our new found power not to take over the world too quickly.
So what if I don’t want the copyright symbol?
I just want a “c” in parentheses
Hi Bruce,
Am I missing something? You would just type the “c” in parenthesis – no special code needed: (c)
Thanks so much!!! One question-where’d you get this? ©©©©©†††
Please help!
I have a laptop and have used everyone’s suggestions but nothin works. My NumLk key does not light up. I have tried the CTRL plus Alt (held down together) plus 0169 (on the numeric keys)..have also tried Ctrl and Alt (at same time) plus C. Neither works. I either get nothing or regular numbers.
I want to be able to use the symbol with just an open e-mail, not with Word or another program running.

you gave my life meaning
Wendy try JUST ALT 0169 don’t hold down CTRL too
start/run/charmap/enter
will show windows all possible characters
Thanks this worked!
Thanks for sharing! Worked great!
how about on mobile?
Or on a mac u can use alt and 1. Alt+1=© xD
I think that is incorrect. I’m on a Macbook Pro and alt/option + 1 = ¡
However, alt/option + g = ©
So use that on a Mac. I checked the info on the original blog entry and that is what is written. It is correct.

but how do i get it on the picture that i want it on?
Thumb tacks, masking tape or super glue. 🙂
If you’re working in a graphics program, you would select text and then type the code to bring up the copyright symbol
If you’re working with a photo specific program, there is usually a feature to include a copyright watermark on all photos imported.
That’s two ways I can think of. Maybe someone else has better, more specific, instructions.
@askland
I’m on a 2009 Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.8 and alt/option + 1 = ©. However alt/option + g = ¸
Which OS version are you running?
I’m on a 2009 MacBook Pro also running 10.6.8
On my computer alt/option + g = ©
alt/option + 1 = ¡

On a Mac, in TextEdit (and lots of other programs), you can just write “(c)” and it will automatically replace it with the © symbol. My question now is, how do you write “(c)”?! I don’t want it replaced with a copyright symbol!
HAHA! I just copy & pasted it:P
Ben, I don’t see any reason you would want to type “(C)”. Just use the copyright symbol
thanks for very useful tip! © ^_^
