Zaia World Premiere August 28 2008

*Update – Premiere completed and successful. Everyone very happy.*

It’s finally here – our world premiere of ZAIA, Cirque Du Soleil’s new show at the Venetian in Macau (SAR) China on August 28, 2008.

It was over a year and a half ago that Cirque said to me “Would you be interested in Macau?” – I said yes because I prefer to always keep as many doors open as possible, but I had no idea what Macau even was. Then about a year ago that they officially signed me onboard for the gig.

UCLA Study Results Released

A study conducted by UCLA’s Department of Psychiatry has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle.

For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features.

However, if she is menstruating, or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with duct tape over his mouth and a spear lodged in his chest while he is on fire.

Dubai Firm Buys 20 Percent of Cirque Du Soleil

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/08/06/ap/business/main4324809.shtml

Excerpt:

The government-controlled developer of palm-shaped islands off Dubai’s coast and a related investment arm said Wednesday they have bought a 20 percent stake in international circus touring company Cirque du Soleil.

Property developer Nakheel and investment company Istithmar World Capital did not say how much they paid for their share of the group, which began performing in Quebec nearly a quarter century ago and is today a mainstay of theaters in Las Vegas and the Far East.

The agreement keeps control of the Montreal-based entertainment company in the hands of founder Guy Laliberte, putting to rest for now speculation that the troupe would be sold outright.

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck China’s Sichuan province on Tuesday, killing at least one person and seriously injuring five others. Sichuan province is still recovering from the devastating 7.9 earthquake on May 12, 2008.

The quake’s epicenter was located about 50 kilometers (30 miles) north-northwest of Guangyuan, near Sichuan’s border with neighboring Gansu province.

Hours before the quakes struck, the Olympic torch relay made its way through parts of Sichuan, on its way to the Summer Games, which get under way Friday in Beijing, some 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) away.
