Theater Arts Guild Presents Richard O’Brien’s “The Rocky Horror Show” Live at the Lincoln Theatre

Directed by Jane Skinner, with Music Direction by Conrad Askland

In association with Skagit PFLAG, the Pride Foundation and SPAC

An zany erotic adult musical of which the film cult classic,” The Rocky Horror Picture Show” was based on, Brad and Janet are an innocent young couple stranded at the home of a mad scientist intent on building the perfect man. His castle is filled with bizarre characters who worship their leather & fishnet master, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, eventually forcing Brad & Janet to examine their own sexuality and hidden desires. Based on the original stage musical by Richard O’Brien this performance comes alive with unforgettable song-and-dance numbers that have come to represent the sexual liberation of the 1970s. So fish out your fishnets, and sharpen your stilettos for the rockiest ride of your life!

The Rocky Horror Show is not appropriate for all audiences; it contains mature themes, sexual situations, strong language, and some possible nudity. No age restriction but parental discretion is advised.

Since this is an audience participation show in a historic theater we ask that no outside props are brought in but a “Rocky” audience participation pack will be sold in the lobby for $5.00 prior to the show.

I have used one of your tracks (Buried Treasure Volume 21, Street Rap Istrumentals)for a production of mine, namely, I have translated the Book of Job from Hebrew into English, putting it into rap verse. Buried Treasure is the instrumental for Chapter 10. I am going to sumbit this production to Zondervan Publishing with the idea of having them publish the lyrics. The intendended audience would be church groups, most likely young adults, and the intended artists would be church members, themselves. The idea would be for Zondervan to publish all 42 chapters of the Book of Job, plus a CD of the various instrumental pieces for each chapter. I intend to send them the CD with the Chapter 10 production, plus I would like to include Buried Treasure in its native format so that they could get an idea of what the instrumental CD would sound like, with Chapter 10 and Buried Treasure being a sample. That is, I would submit as Track 1 the rap production of Chapter 10, then as Track 2 Buried Treasure, so that they could see, first, that it could be produced, and secondly, what the instrumental part would sound like.

I would like your permission to submit this to Zondervan as a proposal. If it were accepted, I would than negotiate with you for the rights to include the instrumental in a publication that would include a CD of the productions, chapter by chapter, plus the instrumentals for each chapter. So far, I have only used one instrumental of yours, but am considering for Chapter 9 “Against Clarity.”

I would also like your permission to submit this to other publishers or agents other than Zondervan for the same purpose.

    Sincerely,

    James Horsley

  2. Hi James,
That’s a good cause and Zondervan is a good company – I don’t see a problem with that. Get back with me when you have a duplication/publishing deal and we’ll work out details.

A little ironic you happened to post this on the Rocky Horror Show post – but I understand that’s my current show so it made sense to contact me on it.

I’m really glad my tracks are being used for this. Thank you!

    Conrad
