A collection of my changed VBulletin 4.0 settings. I’m posting this so I can remember the changes as I go along that may be helpful to other people. Maybe other VB owners have better, or additional suggestions, they can let me know about. (hint, hint: leave a comment please!)
Just released on December 21, 2009 – the new VB4 has received mixed reviews. Members of my communities also are mixed on their appreciation. We’ll give it some time to settle and see how it goes with the new CMS. I run forums on both VB and PhpBB.
OPTIONS
- Options-Group Options: Character limit 12000, Allow Join To View Groups: Yes,
ACP – LEFT PANEL
- Groups – Group Category – Add category
- Human Verification – set to question and answer
- Calendar – Add Holidays
- UserGroups – set password expiration to “0” for all groups (should be default setting)
CHMOD
- /customgroupicons chmod 0777
OTHER
- Turn off advertising until layouts settle with members
- MYSQL create search table (was missing on all my updates): https://www.conradaskland.com/blog/2010/01/vbulletin-create-search-table/
- Usergroups – Registered permissions – Increase avatar size to 50k
- Profile Settings – Receive email on private pm
- Disable CMS
MODS
- IbPro Arcade – edit templates – upload code to forum index.php for secure tokens
- Eparate – seperate sticky and normal threads
- Who’s Online Today – Options: mod – rolling 24 hours
- Login as User
- NewAlbum – show 5 pics bottom of forum, set to random. Update ImageMajick on GD share hosting from /usr/bin/to: /usr/local/bin/
- Download Thread mod – one template edit, upload, import
- Welcome Headers – to improve member registration
- Product z-xmpbl – No links until x posts
- Thank you on posts
