香港导游阿珍骂大陆游客购物不够多摄像录音_在线视频观看_土豆网视频 香港旅游 导游阿珍 导游骂人 大陆游客 港澳游.flv

Video is in Chinese. Hong Kong tour guide says “Spend more, you’ll be happier… don’t tell me you don’t need [to buy more], next you’ll be telling me you don’t need to eat at meal time. I will lock you out of your hotel rooms because you don’t need them [either].”

The Hong Kong Travel Industry Council has received 173 complaints from mainland China tourists from January to May 15, 2010 – an increase of 65 percent from the previous year.

Personally, I took an “Enlightenment Tour” of Hong Kong’s Lantau Island in June 2010 and I had no problems like this. But anytime I travel to other Southeast Asia countries it’s always expected that I’ll be dropped off at some scammy tourist shopping spots. The most common is to stop at art exhibits where the products are made by handicapped people. So I will tell guides up front I do not want to stop at any places like this. I don’t think there is really nothing new in this – it’s just part of the tourism trade in pressuring money out of tourists.

Commentors note that the tour guide in this video is from the mainland, not Hong Kong.

A shout out to the Mad Dog motorcycle club in Hong Kong. I thought their leather vests were way cool and asked a member how I could get one. The response started with a polite sneer and ended with a rundown of the commitment and dedication the members have to their club. So I guess the only way I’ll get the vest is to get a knock off made at a local tailor in Macau or Zhuhai – and then if a Mad Dog ever sees me wearing it they’ll kick my butt – so maybe I won’t do that….

Back in the late 90’s or so I did have the privilege of playing for Sonny Barger of the Hell’s Angels. It was a private party and I was playing with Freddy Fender – I think it was in Hollister, CA. I remember Sonny approached Freddy to play a specific song and Freddy was like “Yes sir” – which was pretty funny because Freddy was a longtime Harley rider and a badass in his own right. But there’s a pecking order.

You can read about Sonny Barger here:

MAD DOG MC History

On October 3, 1994, Tom Leber and some close friends gathered in his garage and founded the Mad Dog Motorcycle Club. The result was an organization built on the principle of camaraderie and diversity. A brotherhood bounded by principles instead of borders. Since then, the Mad Dogs have set fire to the streets of the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, and Hong Kong….and further … creating the standard for motorcycle clubs in South East Asia.

To find more about the legend of the Mad Dogs visit the Mad Dog Hong Kong MC Website.

I’m told that the Mad Dog Hong Kong MC demands loyalty and commitment from it’s members, but keeps family first. And that can’t be a bad thing. Ride on!

I would like to recommend a pro audio store in Hong Kong: Tsang Fook Piano Co. Ltd. The name is a little misleading because in addition to pianos and keyboards they carry a lot of pro audio software. I was in HEAVEN to see rows and rows of boxes with sound libraries, recording and notation software.

Some of the products they carry include M-Audio keyboards (with many in stock), monitors (Including Genelec), sound libraries (East West Library line, Garritan Orchestra et al, etc.) and recording software (Logic Pro, Soundforge, Digidesign Pro Tools, etc).

I’m used to shopping at Guitar Center in the USA where everything is available in one store. In Hong Kong I haven’t found anything like this. The pro audio stores tend to be very small and carry just one product line. I’ve been to the Tom Lee music stores in Hong Kong but they seem to cater more to home audio enthusiasts and I’ve not been able to get the products I need from them.

At Tsang Fook they speak very good English and are knowledgeable about their products. They got MAJOR bonus points when I asked them if a certain sound library was “professional”. The salesperson was honest and said “I don’t know, but I will find out.” At other music stores I tend to get people that just lead me to whatever they have in stock. That approach is fine for home hobby customers, but doesn’t cut it for pro audio.

They also have Ilok’s in stock. Tsang Fook was the only music store that was able to upgrade my Sibelius software – which was extremely easy to do. Here’s their contact info:

Photos from my mini vacation to Cheung Chau, a little island outside Hong Kong. It’s a cute island, fairly friendly and inexpensive. I would go there again. Great getaway to relax and good place for couples.

To get to Cheung Chau from Hong Kong take the ferry from Pier 5. It was about $20HK ($2.50USD) for the ferry which takes about 25 minutes.

I went with my friend Olivier (“the French Dude”) from the Cirque Du Soleil ZAIA band. We stayed at the Warwick Hotel. To get to the Warwick – just take a right outside the ferry terminal and then a fairly quick left into the courtyard. Walk straight past the Park N Shop for about three minutes – then left at the beach up to the Warwick.

If you get lost like we did (and spent an hour walking the whole island) – just know that the Warwick is located directly on the opposite side of the island from the ferry terminal. But it’s a very thin strip of land so only a 5 minute walk (if you do it right and don’t get lost).

The Warwick Hotel is $700-$900HK off season ($90-$110USD). The rooms are not very fancy, much like a Motel 6 in the states. But it has the best view high above the beach and overlooking the ocean. American breakfast is included and delivered to the room. Nice little balcony for watching the ocean. And only a five minute walk from the ferry terminal.

Some friends of ours stayed at the BandB (Bed and Breakfast) for only $500HK ($60USD). They said it’s more of a couples place because the rooms are very small – and it doesn’t have a view of the beach. But looked very cozy and cute.

The view of the beach from our room at the Warwick Hotel. Complete panoramic view across the island and over to Hong Kong. Lifeguards on duty at the main beach during the day. (I didn’t see any sharks). Around the corner from the Warwick you can rent Windsuring equipment.

Back in the main town by the ferry terminal we have fresh shrimp and a whole lobster for about $30 total. The fish and shellfish are caught locally and kept live in tanks until you order.

Here we rent a junk to take us to the famous Pirate Cave. That’s one of the reasons we came here – to see where the pirates used to hide out.

Our junk operator lets me drive the boat for a bit. Of course I’m a tourist and think it’s the coolest thing in the world (not as cool as when I had a friend let me steer his plane while flying) but this guy is bored out of his mind because I’m tourist #3,232,032.

We hired a junk to take us to the caves and they said it was $100HK ($12.50USD) for an hour. We thought this was a great deal for a private boat for an hour so we didn’t bother bartering even though I had read online that you should only pay $5HK (60 cents USD) for the trip.

The boat ride was beautiful, but we found out quick that he was really only taking us to another dock that we could have walked to in 15 minutes. Now we know why all the people on the dock were laughin and waving to us as we embarked on the journey.

I thought the boat would take us around the island and into this gigantic cave like something from Prates of the Caribbean at Disneyland. But as you’ll see my imagination was much more fun than what was to come.

We are let off at the far dock and follow the path to the Pirate Cave, some famous rock (that’s just a big rock) and to the Buddhist temple.

A beautiful view and walk – and we’re getting very excited to explore the Pirate Cave!

Cheung Po Tsai Cave. Hey, I’m too lazy to turn the picture around so just do me a favor and angle your computer monitor so you can read it.

What? The plaque says that Po Tsai might have never even been to the cave? What’s this? I read that this is where all the pirates used to hide out with Po Tsai. I smell a saavy tourism board in the wood pile.

Spitting Is Disgusting – A reminder to the Chinese not to spit on the ground at the park or during the walk. Certainly adds to the old world charm of our journey…

We’re almost at the cave! We see other people coming out so we can hardly contain our excitement to see where they used to hide the buried treasure.

We get there and it’s a little hole in the ground. I go down a couple feet to see if there’s more, but it’s just a little hole. I don’t think I can make it through.

Olivier doesn’t even want to try – and he is very upset.

I am crying because the highlight of our vacation was to see the secret pirate cave. And it’s like five feet deep.

So later that night we run into other Cirque folks on the island and tell them about how awful the pirate cave was. One of them told me their friend went to it and it was absolutely beautiful. So now Olivier and I feel stupid for not bringing flashlights and trying to wriggle our way into the cave. So is it a tourist scam or is there really a big cave down there? I DON’T KNOW! ARGGHHH!!!!

But another part of the walk brought us to this little Buddhist temple. We made a donation and lit incense because it seemed like the cool thing to do – for all I know we conjured up an ancient monster or something. It’s probably eaten half the island and is burping down in the pirate cave…

Our junk operator actually waited for us the complete hour. Normally they leave and someone else takes you back – but for $100HK they can take the day off and wait for the stupid tourists.

I had also read online that by the pirate cave was a village that still fished for food just like they did hundreds of years ago. Olivier and I walked around trying to find this area, and then realized we were already there! I had pictured native pygmies or indians or something like that – but it was just a bunch of boats by apartments.

This next picture is part of a mural by our hotel. Olivier says I am twisted, but I think it’s supposed to be dirty.

Aside from the beach, the other best part of my mini vacation was to find the next morning that my girlfriend had snuck my Teddy Bear into my backpack. I thought it felt a little heavy! So now the secret’s out – Yes, I have a Teddy Bear (and a stuffed Turtle). I didn’t want them to miss my China adventures.

Having breakfast on the balcony of the Warwick. What a great view – we sat there for hours watching the ocean. Remind me to clip that nose hair next year.

Olivier trying to wake up.

The next day we visited a friend in Satin – a suburb of Hong Kong. We hired another junk to take us to Hap Moon Beach. Beautiful boat ride and sunset.

Back to Hong Kong for the day. Finished off by dinner at Shakey’s, a trip to Lo Quai Fon (the Westerner party district) and finally to Wan Chai, another party district.

Price for the day in Cheung Chau, splitting a room overlooking the ocean, food, boats and ferries from Hong Kong: $1,000HK ($125USD). What a great bargain!

Thought I’d share a little practical info on the usage of Macau Patacas (MOP) and Hong Kong Dollars (HKD).

Both rates fluctuate a bit – but currently in 09/08 the Macau Pataca (MOP) is about 774 to 100 US dollars. Most of us just figure 8 to 1 and leave it at that. 100 HKD is worth 103 MOP.

Businesses in Macau will accept Hong Kong Dollars, but Hong Kong will not accept Macau Patacas (MOP). Unless you are making a large purchase many businesses do not give an exchange rate for HKD – so when shopping in Macau you will save some money by purchasing in Patacas instead of HKD. Most businesses have signs that say: 1 HKD = 1 MOP . In other words, no exchange.

Macau Patacas only have value in Macau – my understanding is you cannot change the money outside of the general area of Macau. So if you’re going to stock up on cash, better to do it in HKD for when you travel.

When going into China I have heard that they do not accept either MOP or HKD – so you have to exchange for Chinese currency.

I’ve made the mistake of trying to give Macau coinage in Hong Kong – and the retailers really scoff at it – as if you’ve presented them with bottlecaps or seashells.

I finally ventured out of my new home in Macau, China and into the big city of Hong Kong. It was just a day trip so we hit the shopping stalls in Mong Kok (Called the “Ladies Market”) and then onto the clubs in Wan Chai at night (the Ghylo party district).

At the Ladies Market in Mong Kok is a smaller version of the full shopping found in Zuhai in China – Lots of knock off and imitation products including Rolex, Ed Hardy clothing, True Religion jeans, handbags and similiar designer products. You have to barter which is a hassle for us Westerners, but that’s the way they do it. You can get 30-60% or more off the asking price if you like to work hard at it. I was usually happy at 50% because I don’t have the patience to barter, and the prices are much cheaper than what we’re used to in the US anyway.

A normal sight in Macau and Hong Kong – whole chickens to be purchased, still complete with the head attached. And I’ve had chicken soup served before with a full chicken in the pot, head and all!

Then onto Wan Chai – the party district with dozens of “juice bars”. Be careful, I’m a little of a juice bar veteran and we got fleeced in nothing flat. I suggest walking into these places with $50 US ($400HK) and leave the rest with a friend or in your sock, no joke!

*Note* – Someone asked me if we got robbed or pickpocketed. No, we didn’t – they are just very good at separating people from their money.

Meet Hong Kong Annie – our favorite Mamasan at the Waikiki Club in Hong Kong. You can find the Waikiki club in the Wan Chai party district – with plenty of other clubs on the same street. We finally got smart and only went into the clubs with about $20 in our wallet – otherwise they will clean you out (and they’re very good at it!).

Interestingly enough – no one at the club had every been to Waikiki Beach before (imagine that…). Thank you to Hong Kong Annie for providing us an entertaining and affordable evening!
