In reply to <a href="https://conradaskland.com/blog/getting-your-music-degree-online-is-it-worth-it/#comment-1330097">Patricia</a>.

Hi Patricia,
I've taken physical in-person classes at University of Miami, Pacific Lutheran University and UCLA. The online classes I've taken have been with Berklee College of Music, Harvard and Colorado State University.

Just wanted to state again how fantastic my experience was with the Berklee classes online. My first online class with them was in 2010 where I eventually finished Professional Certification in Ableton Live. Later I completed my Bachelor's degree with them around 2016 and then went on to complete my Master's online with Colorado State University.

The first Berklee classes I did was when I lived in China working for Cirque du Soleil and the rest of my classes were also done while I was on tours.

I've worked in live performance and music production my entire life and the Berklee classes were awesome. Out of maybe 25 classes I did with them there were only about 2 where I thought "meh, that could have been put together better". In my book those are excellent averages. The only reason I didn't do my Masters at Berklee is because there was a one year gap between my Bachelor degree and the launch of their MBA masters with focus on the music business (I wanted to jump right in and complete my Masters degree).

It's true that I saw many fellow students get very little out of the classes but that was because they didn't put anything into it. Professors have told me that older students are "a little more hungry" to take the studies seriously because they are more determined and motivated. Any way - that's my two cents.

Best wishes on your education journey!

Thank you for posting such an insightful article/ review on online music education. I personally am looking into continuing my music studies while I am still working in the industry. And there has been a lot of doubts about the worth of these courses, especially due to the expensive tuition fees and time value as an adult.

This is really helpful! Thanks again from Sydney, Australia.

I was a Skoochies Pirate! I basically lived to make enough to live there Wednesday thru Sunday... It gave me a safe shelter away from Dominary and dysfunctional Catholic parents. It was my first taste of freedom and independence and self awareness. I met my wife there and we had three beautiful children. After it's closure I could never return to my parents world and went on to a 20 year career in the Marines, hardly a social outcast, or loser.

Hi Bradley,
That is a very important topic that should always be a top priority to address. This particular song, "Love Never Fails", is from my musical "Pray the Gay Away" which addresses the topic of adolescent gay conversion therapy in the United States, which is still being practiced widely today. We are aligned in that both of our topics mentioned here are about the protection of our fellow humans and the protection of basic human rights.
