My best guess is it won’t happen. The movie for the Grinch came out and anytime there’s a major movie release, the rights are sewn up with paperwork a mile long.

Seussical, for instance, was able to have a short cameo by the Grinch but could not use the actual Grinch Who Stole Christmas story because it is owned by the movie rights. Seussical was endorsed and approved by the holder of Seuss rights, and even in this case it was a very small cameo that was approved.
