The Bible, particularly in the New Testament, warns us repeatedly against false ministers and suchlike.
So yes, be suspicious, be very suspicious of what is taught in any church.
But don’t let the falsity prejudice you against the truth.

I became a Christian:
1) by being totally sceptical about what I heard in church,
2) by reading the gospel for myself,
3) by asking God to convince me if it was true, if it was really his word.
4) by putting Jesus’ teaching into practice and discovering that it proves true.

I have received many powerful answers to prayer, including a few miracles, as have many Christians, just as Jesus promised.

I honestly believe that anyone following this path will get the same results.
