The most ubiquitous deception accomplished by The Liar is that ‘he’ DOES exist. Those of us who have New Thought and are embracing even newer thoughts about principles and wisdom of the ages understand a deeper meaning of Revelation 21:1-4. When you change the way you look at things the things you look at change. We are experiencing a ‘New Heaven & a New Earth’ because the way that we think about heaven & earth is new. The former things have passed away.

I’d have to disagree that Christ & New Thought cannot be reconciled (within one’s own mind) but I’d definitely agree that you cannot reconcile this in the mind of another. Teaching mysticism is fruitless. It cannot be done for a mystic experience is just that… a personal experience. You may introduce people to Esotericism but it’s not even about whether they accept it or not. Babes in Christ need milk and cannot digest solid food.

Good article and comments. I come from the opposite place. I was an evangelical Christian. Then, I found New Thought and have never looked back. Amy’s “positive message” neglects some very import points, like, 99% of humanity is bound for hell because they don’t believe the “right” way. That includes most of your family, friends, and colleagues, Amy. St. Thomas Aquinas said that one of the major joys of heaven is to be able to look over the edge of the abyss to watch all the sinners writhing in agony in hell. Sounds like a real gas, don’t you think?

It comes to this: For God to create a creature with the ability to send itself to hell for all eternity, and to even create the hell for that purpose; to create a being (Satan) that could rebel against HIm, fall to earth and be loosed in the new Garden of Eden to tempt the Innocents (and they WERE innocent); to treat His so-called Chosen People the way he did throughout the early parts of the Old Testament; to behave as an angry, egotistical dictator; to find it necessary to create the horrible plan of salvation that included the crucifixion; the threats of church, the fears of the people for nearly 2000 years; the inquisitions; the arrogance of the missionaries around the world (we’re here to save you from your horrible way of life); the divisions within Christianity itself, and of course, all of the superstitious nonsense about devils and demons and angels and… Well, I think that covers enough.

It all has nothing to do with being a good or bad person. It is all about believing a certain way. And that is the true crime here. All good Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, and the rest are condemned to hell simply because they do not believe like you do, Amy. And that includes the multitudes who never heard anything about Christ throughout human history.

I would rather spend an eternity in hell than a single moment with the god of the Bible. But, gratefully, he is the product of the human mind, unreal, and unnecessary.

But, who am I to tell anyone what they should believe?
