No, I don’t. I installed several spam catching features that automate most of the process now.

For WordPress the Akismet plugin takes care of most of them. For PhpBB I have some of these features installed:

1) Hidden URL field at signup, if member tries to fill in that field then you know it’s a bot since the field is not visibile – automatic ban.

2) Captcha image.

3) Simple question on sign in for human to answer.

Spam is still a problem, but this has caught most of it. I also use VBulletin software and get almost no spam with VBulletin plugins as well. Hope that helps.

And this list may not work for an international user base. But for US-based communities the bulk of emails from those legit sources are from spammers. As an admin, it just takes up too much time to weed it all out. For example, I can block several hundred spams from web.de, to maybe exclude one legit user.

It is far from perfect, but it has saved me HUNDREDS of hours wasted on going through spam posts.

I am a legitimate e-mail user from gmx.net and this could mean that my e-mail would be blocked ?

I think the blanket ban is problematic at least for some domains. E.g. GMX.NET as well as GMX.DE have a huge following in Europe.
