ARNOLD VON BRUCK
Arnold von Bruck (also Arnold de Pruck, Arnoldus Brugensis, indicating his origin) (c. 1500 – February 6, 1554) was a Franco-Flemish composer of the Renaissance, active in several Habsburg courts. He was one of the most famous and influential composers in German-speaking areas during the first half of the 16th century, the period of the Protestant Reformation; however he seems to have remained a Roman Catholic.

“A soldier walked over the field,
as so many times before;
he had neither possessions, nor money.
He passed by a tavern,
as so many times before.
The ale-wife looked out of the window,
and then a little bit more,
as so many times before.
(Here follows a list of herbs,
all of aphrodisiac properties)

Clément Janequin (c. 1485 in Châtellerault, near Poitiers – 1558 in Paris) was a French composer of the Renaissance. He was one of the most famous composers of popular chansons of the entire Renaissance, and along with Claudin de Sermisy, was hugely influential in the development of the Parisian chanson, especially the programmatic type. The wide spread of his fame was made possible by the concurrent development of music printing.

Lyrics:
Escoutez, tous gentilz Galloys,
La victoire du noble roy Françoys.

Et orrez, si bien escoutez,
Des coups ruez de tous costez.
Phiffres, soufflez,Frappez.

Avanturiers, bons compagnons,
Ensemble croisez vos bastons,
Bendez soudain, gentilz Gascons,
Nobles, sautez dens les arçons,
La lance au poing hardiz et promptz,
Comme lyons!
Haquebutiers, faictes voz sons!
Armes bouclez, frisques mignons,
Donnez dedans! Frappez dedans!
Alarme, alarme.
Soyez hardiz, en joye mis.

Chascun s’asaisonne,
La fleur de lys,
Fleur de hault pris,
Y est en personne.

Suivez Françoys,
Le roys Françoys,
Suivez la couronne!

Sonnez trompetes et clarons,
Pour resjouyr les compagnons.

Tonnez gros courtaux et faulcons,
Pour secourir les compaignons.

Von pa ti pa toc,
Ta ri ra ri ra ri ra reyne,
Pon, pon, pon, pon,
Courage, courage,
