At the time I was producing for Road Records in Southern California and writing for and with many recording artists.

This simple lyric video is a big deal for me personally because it’s the first content I have released since November 2019. In November 2019 my latest full-length musical finished it’s run and I was totally exhausted, and then COVID hit around the corner from that. Many people think the 2020 Covid time was a great time for writers because they had so much free time to create. For me that wasn’t the case at all. The daily political chaos of 2020 was debilitating to me and absolutely destroyed all my forward motion and will to create.

Now that the U.S. is (hopefully) emerging out of that chaos, I’ve preparing my new projects and also going through previous material that has never actually been released online. (So far I’ve found over 60 pieces never released online). As I was listening to older material I had written, “Thru Your Love” really touched me for these current times. It has a sentiment that I really resonate with right now. A sentiment of peace, resolve and quiet strength.

I realize that different people will take away different meanings from the words of this song; that was purposeful when I co-wrote this piece. The lyrics are ambiguous like the song “You Light Up My Life” so that listeners can insert their personal meaning into the words. The lyrics can relate to a relationship, personal faith, or both.

As a side note, the co-writer I worked with on this song was Dave Schaack. I look back on this as one of my favorite collaborations. Dave was very generous in giving me the space to develop the song for two different artists. Thank you Dave!

In closing, this song for me is the beginning of emerging from a devastating year of 2020, and now preparing and looking forward to all the new projects to develop. There is a lot of work left to do in this world!

LYRICS

The echoes of my restless heart
Are not easy to recall
Since you came and picked me up
And made me to stand tall

Thru the love you gave to me
A whole new life for all to see
Thru your love, I’m stronger now
Strong enough to stand my ground
With the strength I have found
Thru your love

I’ve been captured by a dream from heaven above
You’ve given me more than I ever thought of

Thru your love you gave to me
A whole new life for all to see
Thru your love you gave to me
A whole new life for all to see

Thru your love, I’m stronger now
Strong enough to stand my ground
With the strength I have found
Thru your love

“Thru Your Love” Words and Music by Dave Schaack and Conrad Askland (ASCAP). © 1997.

[48
