You don&#8217;t<br \/>\nwant to have to rush into your audition.<br \/>\nGive yourself time to find the space and warm up.<\/p>\n<p>Pack your bag with a book in case there is<br \/>\nwaiting and a bottle of water.<br \/>\nNot every place has a water fountain.<\/p>\n<p>Be nice to everybody.<br \/>\nYou never know if the person you are speaking to is important.<\/p>\n<p>There may be several people waiting with you to audition.<br \/>\nRemember that they are competing with you for the same job.<br \/>\nDon&#8217;t let them intimidate you.<\/p>\n<p>Wear neat, comfortable clothing.<br \/>\nWe know you want to look nice,<br \/>\nbut make sure you can move around the room.<br \/>\nAnd don&#8217;t wear a costume.<br \/>\nYour outfit can suggest the character such as a high-collar<br \/>\nblouse for a period piece, but don&#8217;t get all dressed up.<\/p>\n<p>Careful when using perfume or cologne. You don&#8217;t want to<br \/>\nsend anyone out of the room in a sneezing fit.<\/p>\n<p>Try to find some background information about<br \/>\nthe charcter you are auditioning for.<br \/>\nIf you are auditioning for a particular company,<br \/>\nbe familiar with their work.<br \/>\nIt can also help you decide which pieces to<br \/>\nchoose for your audition.<\/p>\n<p>Bring clean and clearly marked sheet music.<br \/>\nIf you are auditioning for a musical,<br \/>\nbe sure the music you give the piano player<br \/>\nis cut down to 16 bars and is free of stray marks and coffee stains.<\/p>\n<p>Remember to smile. If you are nervous,<br \/>\ntake a deep breath and try to relax.<br \/>\nRecognize that you are not going to get every job<br \/>\nyou audition for, but can learn from every experience.<\/p>\n<p>When you are called in for your audition,<br \/>\nbe confident and smile<br \/>\nand unless it is vital, avoid asking too many questions<br \/>\nas your audition probably has a tight time slot.<\/p>\n<p>Keep your monologue to about a minute. Most directors can tell<br \/>\nin that time if they are interested. Have several pieces prepared<br \/>\nand one longer piece in case they ask to see more.<\/p>\n<p>Definitely do not ask if you will be called back.<br \/>\nThe casting director will let you know, that you can be sure of.<br \/>\nIf you do get called back, wear the same outfit as during your audition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More Audition Tips Also see: I Hate To Audition!
