February 2011 I flew from Hong Kong to visit the USA for a week in Mount Vernon, WA and then a week in Las Vegas. Although I only lived in Mount Vernon, WA for a couple years I consider it “home” because my sister and Mom live in the area. It was also one of my favorite areas to work in doing music and theater shows.
This video is mainly friends and family. We had a music jam at The Muse in Conway, WA which is one of my favorite places to hang out with artists and theater people. I also got some nice shots visiting my Mom in Lyman, WA.
During the week in Las Vegas I was able to see all seven Cirque Du Soleil shows running there: Mystere, Criss Angel Believe, Viva Elvis, O, Zumanity, KA and Beatles Love. All of the shows were awesome. After seeing the first show in the house I was able to meet with the music directors for each Cirque show and watch them run the show backstage. That was my main reason in going; to check out all the different computer setups and styles of running the shows. Fun stuff!
Although I admit it wasn’t much of a vacation. I came back to work in Macau, China for our Cirque ZAIA show and already feel like I need a vacation! Thanks to all my friends in Skagit County WA for making my visit very fun. And thanks to all the Cirque bandleaders and technicians for giving me the backstage tours and showing me the computer set ups.
And this is also my first video using my new Canon 5D Mark II camera with the 24-15omm zoom and 15mm fisheye lens. It was very fun to capture photos of family with this camera and also to shoot pics around the Las Vegas strip.
