Let’s send a little Google love to The Conway Muse. The Muse is one of the favorite hangouts for local artists in the Skagit County, Island and Stanwood areas. Some of my favorite late night jams have been up there. But the exciting news is that soon they will be open to the public so everyone can experience the magic.
My favorite part about The Muse is the wide diversity of people present. I have never seen a wider diversity in any other setting. Everyone who hangs out there has one thing in common: a passion for the arts (or is dating someone who’s passionate for the arts!).
I’m a member of a 5-person ensemble (Millie and the Mentshn). The website (http://www.millieandthementshn.com/aboutTheBand.php) provides rather thorough background about the group, which plays “chamber klezmer” and world music. We have put on a variety of performances that range from folk dances to multi-media concerts that involve narrations, music, and an ongling slide program. We have performed at various locations within the state as well as in Minnesota. More recently, we did a second set of performances in Fairbanks, AK, and participated in a week-long “klezfiesta” to which we had been invited in Buenos Aires. I’m simply curious about the possibility of a performance at The Muse. The group is not likely to be interested in an unpaid performance. But perhaps something can be arranged so that The Muse and the group can split proceeds in some way.
