Air Supply – Sands Macau June 6-8

06/08/08 Update – Just got back from the Air Supply concert at the Sands Macau. It was really great if you like Air Supply (and I do!). They did a couple covers including “Can’t Live Without You” and “The Power of Love”. Their piano player did a great solo piano Etude and the drummer was very entertaining.

Graham Russell performed a solo guitar/vocal piece from their upcoming album (first CD release in since 2003) that I think was called “The River and Me”. It was very moving and was really the point in the show where the audience got pulled in and connected.

Doyle Dykes Wabash Cannonball

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mwFA56dKP8

Doyle Dykes is an renowned acoustic guitar artist and Christian musician. I saw this Doyle Dykes video posted on one of my guitar discussion forums. It sure made me homesick! I used to work at a music store and Doyle Dykes did a guitar clinic for us. He’s a Taylor Guitar artist. He also performs often at one of my favorite churches in Southern California – Calvary Chapel High Desert.

When I listen to his rendition of Wabash Cannonball – I swear I can almost hear the lyrics being sung from the guitar. He’s absolutely amazing.

Friends back home were asking what my living conditions are like in China so here are pictures of my apartment on the island of Taipa in Macau, China (SAR). These are pictures of the place before I moved in.

This is the view from my living room windows. Just over the river there you can see mainland China.

Taipa is the island next to Macau. My island of Taipa has a large expat community (lots of Westerners) so it’s very comfortable and not much of a culture shock. I have two large grocery stores within a 30 second walk and plenty of great restaurants – Italian, Mexican, Portuguese, Thai, American, Indian, Chinese and French.

Arriving in Macau

hk-airport2.jpg

(Here should be some really cool pictures of everyone at the Montreal Airport yelling “Macau! Macau”. But I was too tired to take them.) Welcome to my most mundane blog post EV-er…

On March 23, 2008 the Cirque Du Soleil artists for “Macau I Cosmos” flew from Montreal, Canada to Hong Kong for relocation. Here’s an uneventful post about our initial relocation. The photos are with my old camera from the 1800’s, they are horrible, and none of them are the least bit interesting.
