Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5Ts4M3irWM

Here are some live videos of Johnny Cash when he performed at Folsom Prison – and also singing with June Carter. I watched the film “Walk the Line” last night so I’m in a Johnny Cash mood.

Many years ago I produced over a dozen songs for an inmate in California (he has a famous relative with the same name so I won’t post his name). He couldn’t send me recordings – so he would use his telephone calls to sing me his songs with his guitar – then would send me the lyrics by mail. We did this for several years working on his songs. Of course, one of his favorite recordings was Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison.

Video when I played with Freddy Fender on ABC at the 2002 ALMA awards (American Latin Music Awards). He was starting to be very ill in 2002 and had a kidney transplant the same year (and a liver transplant in 2004). Freddy passed away on October 14, 2006. Vaya Con Dios Freddy!

Video – Freddy Fender – Before the Next Teardrop Falls

Thanks to Deb for sending this too me – another video from when I played with Freddy Fender (I’m the keyboardist on the right). Before The Next Teardrop Falls is often unwittingly called “Before The LAST Teardrop Falls” and Freddy Fender is often spelled as “Freddie Fender”, as they are in this video title. My best guess is this video is from Laughlin, Nevada sometime between 2003-2004, probably 2004.

Zaia Opening Night and Pool Party

zaia-graphic2.jpg

Opening night (soft opening) and monstrously fun party for Cirque Du Soleil’s ZAIA at the Venetian July 26, 2008.

Our first public show went very smooth – no apparent tech glitches or problems – and we had an incredibly enthusiastic audience – so we’re all very happy. Here little snippets of my opening night and the great party afterwards for my friends back home.

Scientists Want to Test DNA on Chopin’s Heart

 dna.jpg

WARSAW, Poland — Like a religious relic, the heart of composer Frederic Chopin rests in a Warsaw church, untouched since it was preserved in alcohol after his death in 1849 at age 39.

And that’s how the Polish government wants to keep it.

Scientists want to remove the heart for DNA tests to see if Chopin actually died from cystic fibrosis and not tuberculosis as his death certificate states.
