A film by Davy McGuire 2008 showing the cast of Zaia from training in Montreal to opening in Macau at the Venetian Casino. The Zaia artists saw this for the first time in the green room at the Cirque Du Soleil Zaia Theater in Macau in October 2008.

At 1:19 there’s a photo of me outside in the snow in Montreal with other band members. I like this video a lot – it captures a little of the crazy energy and personalities working on our show.

Cirque Bachelor Party

Before leaving for vacation we had a great Cirque bachelor party for a certain artist. I’ll tell you that when you get high energy artists together for a party – it’s a PARTY! What a great crew. Pic up top is myself and Tom, one of our clowns.

Avril Lavigne at ZAIA

Avril Lavigne stopped by and saw our ZAIA show today. She’s doing a concert down the hall Friday night as part of her “Best Damn Tour” show. She stopped downstairs in our green room after the show to say hi and get photo ops with the Cirque Du Soleil ZAIA cast.

ZAIA on Hong Kong TV September 13, 2008

ZAIA will be on television in Hong Kong Saturday September 13, 2008. A programme named “太陽劇團特約： 探索 ZAIA 的夢想世界” (translated as Cirque du Soleil presents “Exploring the ZAIA journey”) will be on TVB Jade, a Cantonese TV channel with highest audience in Hong Kong.   The programme will feature interviews with our Writer & Director Gilles Maheu, Make-up Designer Nathalie Gagné and some of the artists including ZAIA (Kaleen).  It will also include show footage and some location shots here at the Venetian.  However the program will be in Cantonese, for those who do not understand the language, I do hope that you enjoy the programme visually.

Zaia World Premiere August 28 2008

*Update – Premiere completed and successful. Everyone very happy.*

It’s finally here – our world premiere of ZAIA, Cirque Du Soleil’s new show at the Venetian in Macau (SAR) China on August 28, 2008.

It was over a year and a half ago that Cirque said to me “Would you be interested in Macau?” – I said yes because I prefer to always keep as many doors open as possible, but I had no idea what Macau even was. Then about a year ago that they officially signed me onboard for the gig.

The Zaia Taxi

Check out the Zaia Taxi – one of the great marketing ideas for the Cirque show ZAIA in Macau (Venetian Casino). For a month up to the soft opening and up to the grand opening of the show – I would say that one out of every four taxis in Macau have the ZAIA advertisement. It’s EVERYWHERE. And yes, it’s very fun to be in the show and then ride a Zaia taxi around town!

Zaia Opening Night and Pool Party

Opening night (soft opening) and monstrously fun party for Cirque Du Soleil’s ZAIA at the Venetian July 26, 2008.

Our first public show went very smooth – no apparent tech glitches or problems – and we had an incredibly enthusiastic audience – so we’re all very happy. Here little snippets of my opening night and the great party afterwards for my friends back home.
