Shakespeare Northwest Auditions 2008

Note from Damond Morris on auditions for Shakespeare Northwest 2008 productions of The Merchant of Venice and All’s Well That Ends Well.

Greetings,

Shakespeare Northwest will be breaking new ground in 2008 and I would love you to be a part of it. The two Skagit River Shakespeare Festival shows, The Merchant of Venice and All’s Well That Ends Well, will be presented in McIntyre Hall (http://www.mcintyrehall.org/files.asp_Q_pagenumber_E_1899 ) with the opening performance on July 31st, (running for two weeks.) I know for many this will be a sad move out of the outdoor theatre. It was a decision that was not made lightly. Man hours and time as well as the cost of setting up the facility were deciding factors to make the move to the Hall. The move to McIntyre Hall will allow us to have zero rainouts and focus on the production of art rather then the building of an auditorium.

The move away from building a theatre in the park does not mean we out of the park. We are working on a FREE touring parks production (an idea championed by our president Rob Slater as well as SNW founding member Donald Drummond) BUT I need a Director to step up to the plate. The touring parks production will move around area parks and into Whatcom County. If you would like to help with or would like to Direct a touring parks production please email me ASAP.

ANYWAY….

The purpose of THIS email is to let you know that AUDITIONS for the 2008 season are fast approaching and slots are filling up.  I will be directing The Merchant of Venice and Trey Hatch will be directing All’s Well That Ends Well. Perry Lewis is on board again this year as our Technical Director, Maura Marlin will be designing costumes and Cathy Savage will be the props goddess.

What we need now is YOU! Rehearsals are three days a week and will be fast and furious with a very short 5 week rehearsal process, starting mid June.

All parts are available, NOTHING is pre-cast. Shakespeare NorthWest pulls actors from Seattle to Bellingham, Anacortes to Concrete. Expect to work hard and have a good time.

Please take the time to ping back and set up a time for auditions, or let me know that you received this email and can not audition this season. If you can think of anyone that would be interested in auditioning for the festival feel free to forward this email.

AUDITIONS will be held:

April 26th from 3-6 at the Bellingham Theatre Guild (http://www.bellinghamtheatreguild.com/findus )

April 27th from 11-3 at the Phil Tarro Theatre on the Skagit Valley College Campus (see the PDF map inserted), 2405 East College Way, Mount Vernon.
